Our home is situated only 15 minutes walking distance to the beautiful, historical city centre of Charleville‑Mézières with its lovely 17th century square “Place Ducale”. Here you can find a large range of cafés, restaurants, terraces and shops.

Charleville was the birth place of the famous poet Arthur Rimbaud. We recommend a visit to the following points of interest: Arthur Rimbaud Museum, The Maison des Ailleurs, The Rimbaud city trail.

On the Place Ducale, the Ardennes Museum will introduce you to the long and intriguing history of the French Ardennes as well as Charleville-Mézières.

B&B Charlestown is situated in close proximity to the 'Voie verte Trans‑Ardennes', a cycling path that runs 130kms along the Meuse River from Givet on the Belgian border to Mouzon next to Lorraine. The ‘Voie Verte Trans-Ardennes’ is part of the international 'Meuse Cycle Route’(EuroVélo 19). This route offers 1,000 kms cycling pleasure from the sources of the Meuse River near Langres in the Haute-Marne, passing through the Ardennes, Belgium and Holland right through to the North Sea close to Rotterdam and the Hook of Holland.

Recommendations for visiting the French Ardennes: The city of Sedan with the largest fortified medieval castle in Europe (35,000m²). Rocroi, a star shaped fortified town with its discovery trail into the fortifications.

Hikers will be entranced when they discover the hills and forests of the Ardennes with loads of stunning outlooks over deep valleys in the Meuse and Semois Valley (Monthermé). Some beautiful spots for a picnic.

Charleville-Mézières is centrally located between the Champagne area, Belgium and Luxemburg, Within an hour by car from Charleville, you can be standing in front of the UNESCO world heritage Cathedral of Reims. Here you also can visit one of the famous Champagne houses, take a tour of their deep cellars and sample their wares. Quite an experience !

You might also take the opportunity to cross over the Belgian border and visit the gorgeous tourist town of Bouillon which is only 30 minutes’ drive from our home. Dinant is only 1-hour away and Luxemburg City with its UNESCO cultural heritage is only 1 hour and 15 minutes from Charleville.
